Solitude and community are not opposed but internally related, since everyone and everything are grounded in unity. This is the mystery of advaita, or nonduality, non-separateness, or unity: it is the mystery of distinction within unity. True community is rooted in the mystery of advaita. The sanyassi chooses solitude to realize experientially the unity of everyone and everything, the truth that all is within him; the community is also within him, in the cave of his own heart.
