Most classical Jewish theological teachings express a negative view of Jesus. Though the twentieth-century Jewish philosopher Martin Buber called Jesus his "brother," much of classical Jewish theological teaching considered Jesus an "other" (otoh ha-ish, literally, a derogatory term for "that man"), that is, an apostate who subverted the teachings of Judaism.
