The practice of virtue, while always a part of the human journey into God and therefore never complete, is not all there is. There is also the process of subtraction, of dying to the false self, where, through a combination of awareness and grace, we lose our attachments, our habitually destructive ways of being. . . .

Resurrection is God's work, not ours. When we subtract the false self, the new person comes into being by grace.
