The highest, most mature form of contemplative, mystical consciousness is unitive experience. The mystics of each tradition have described it in considerable detail. Whether it is the advaita of Hinduism, the satori of Zen, the dzogchen of Tibetan esoteric experience, the baqa of the Sufis, or the transforming union of Christian mystics, this high state of awareness is known by all traditions. This is a very important part — a defining integrative awareness — of my own mystical experience.
