Grace, in the sense of a divine blessing that is given without being earned, is not, strictly speaking, a Buddhist concept. Yet whether or not we attribute it to divine action, the experience of grace is common among those of us engaged in the practice of meditation. If we look clearly at our lives — the circumstances that permit us to pursue a spiritual path, the opportunity to meet and work with highly realized teachers, the sincerity of our desire for true inner freedom — we will see that we are already "knee deep in grace."
