So many of the greatest masters of yoga have been eccentric, elusive, shabby, and completely uninterested in external omnipotence and charm. Ramakrishna, for example, perhaps the greatest yogic avatar of the last century, wore a shabby, old,"wearing cloth" that was perpetually falling off. The same was true of the great Neem Karoli Baba, Ram Dass's guru. These teachers had no sense of themselves as being "special".
