To be frank about it, at Muskegon High I was a lonely loser, something to be pitied. As far as I could tell, nobody who knew me had any hope for me, and I had no hope for myself. To have hope you need to believe that what you hope for is possible. I had no such belief. . . . And if God was walking with me through the halls of Muskegon Senior High, he seldom, if ever, let me know that he was there.
