For Luke, the best way of celebrating the Sabbath is to raise up men and women to their original form, to delight in the divine dignity and to praise God, the creator of human dignity. The reaction of the people is joy "at all the great deeds that he did." (Luke 13.17). People always react joyfully to Jesus' offer of redemption. Jesus doesn't talk about joy; his action sparks off joy among other people.
