In his commentary on Psalms, Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib of Ger (d. 1905) reminds us that human beings alone are incapable of completing God's plan. The only true contribution we can make to the whole process is our own humility. Standing in the divine Presence, we acknowledge our own inadequacy, and this "calling upon God," this evoking the divine power, is our contribution to ultimate completion, Only God can finish the task, We can only ask for God's help as we begin a new week.
