From that first day there has been no turning back. The wonder has never diminished. The magic of words, words all by themselves and words strung together to make poetry and stories and encyclopedias — if anything, that magic has increased. I love the words knit together by others, and I love the words that I knit together — in conversations, in teaching, in writing. Playing with words is holy play.
