St. Ignatius of Loyola was moved to tears in the streets of Rome whenever he saw three of anything — three pigeons, three men, three stars in the sky, three children playing — because they reminded him of this mystery of the Trinity. The Trinity is love. Every human family with a father, mother, and child is an image of the Trinity. So is all fertility in nature, for in nature too everything is trinitarian.
