"Be glad and rejoice" (Matthew 5:12). "I shall see you again; then your hearts will rejoice with a joy no one can take from you" (John 16:22). At the Last Supper, even when He was about to be betrayed, arrested, cursed, beaten, humiliated, rejected, mortified, and crucified, He talked about joy to his disciples by saying, "All this I tell you that my joy may be yours and your joy may be complete" (John 15:11).
