I believe in the Oneness of God, because in spite of variety and contradiction, I am aware of a unity in the visible universe. A pattern is visible — an evolutionary pattern of growth and development in the physical order and in the order of consciousness. In this pattern the expression Fatherhood of God expresses a unity in our origin, a unity in our mutual existence, and a tendency, at least, toward a unified end.
