Don Campbell is a pioneer in the study of music and healing. On this two-part session, one before a live audience, he presents his ideas on the art of dynamic listening and the powerful impact of sound, music, and other forms of vibration upon our bodies, minds, and souls. Campbell salutes the work of Dr. Alfred A. Tomatis, the Einstein of sound. He discusses the therapeutic use of classical music by hospital patients before and after operations.

In several interesting exercises, Campbell asks his audience to close their eyes and watch the music. He plays selections from Mozart and some spacious New Age works and then explicates the restorative powers of Gregorian chant. In the final section, Campbell demonstrates how individuals can harness the healing tonic of self-generated sounds through toning and chanting. While some sections of this presentation may strike listeners as too technical, overall it is effective in making its point — great music is not just entertaining, it is good medicine.
