Time magazine and CNN refer to African-American T.D. Jakes as "America's Best Preacher." He is pastor of the non-denominational church The Potter's House, which has 30,000 members, and his television show reaches 67 million households per month. This book is a companion volume to the New York Times bestseller Reposition Yourself: Living a Life Without Limits which is filled with wisdom on money matters, personal feelings, relationships, and creativity in everyday life.

These daily meditations can be assessed through the three Rs — Reflect, Ruminate, and Remember. The book is basically a religious pep talk for those who feel stuck and yearn for change in their lives. Jakes wants readers to break through limits of race, gender, class, and other pesky "isms" which hold people back from their true potential.

He suggests developing a personal mission statement of who we are and what we are about. Life is about growth and change. That is why we shouldn't get upset by delay and denial. "Faith, work, and responsibility make dreams realities," says Jakes. Our addiction to apathy is something to avoid like the plague. Instead we can learn from our mistakes and "cultivate the mind of a champion."

A key part of repositioning ourselves is debt reduction and financial health. Jakes concludes: "If you refuse to be handcuffed by the limitations that your environment, upbringing or peers set for you, then you will discover a limitless source of self-confidence and resilience." This message of self-empowerment sounds a lot like the message of Norman Vincent Peale, a popular preacher of positive thinking.
