Juno, as we wrote in our rave review of the film, is one of the brightest, funniest, and best of 2007. Ellen Page gives a superlative performance as a precocious and spunky 16 year old who gets pregnant and decides to give the baby away to a couple who are desperate for a child. But the real reason for the movie's clout is the delightful screenplay by Diablo Cody. In the introduction to this shooting script, she admits:
"I wrote the script back in Minnesota, a circumstance that should have logically counted as a strike against me. Sometimes I wrote at my kitchen table, sometimes I wrote at the local Target, sometimes I'd sneak a few blocks of dialogue during my fifteen-minute breaks at work. Juno became my secret passion, and I anticipated our time together like a horny schoolgirl."
In his foreword, director Jason Reitman says of Diablo Cody:
"Reading Juno is like hearing jazz for the first time. It is your first mouthful of Pop Rocks. The first time you put on 3D glasses. Combinations of words you've never experienced and yet you know their exact meaning. It's exhilarating and joyful."
Enough said. Enjoy reading the complete script and follow that by savoring the eight pages of color photographs and complete cast and crew credits.
