"Mindfulness is our ability to be aware of what is going on both inside us and around us. It is the continuous awareness of our bodies, emotions, and thoughts," writes Thich Nhat Hanh in this handy little book and DVD presenting ten gentle physical exercises suitable for people of all ages and body types. They can be used before or after meditation or at any time of the day when you feel the need to stretch the body or calm the mind.

Thich Nhat Hanh emphasizes that these movements are not to be rushed like aerobics where the point is to get the heart rate up. Intead they are to be done slowly. They have been taught and practiced in the Buddhist teacher's retreat center at Plum Village in France for more than two decades. The-35 minute DVD shows Thich Nhat Hanh and sangha members demonstrating the movements. The illustrations by Wietske Vriezen are delightful.
