In a Nutshell: David Whyte challenges us to become all that we were meant to be on this Sounds True Audio Learning Course which runs 5 and 3/4 hours. He examines the disciplines that will help get us through difficulties — trust, vulnerability, momentum, and courage.

About the Author: David Whyte is an internationally recognized poet, prose author, naturalist, and thinker in organizational leadership. He grew up in Yorkshire and now lives in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. He is the author of six books of poetry and works of nonfiction such as The Three Marriages: Reimagining Work, Self, and Relationship.

Sum and Substance: David Whyte sees our lives as focused on what he calls "the great conversation" we have with ourselves and the great mysteries of life which surround us. In six sessions, he covers "Disciplines for Facing the Unknown," "Disciplines of Vulnerability," "Asking for Invisible Help," "The Conversational Nature of Everyday Life," "The Disciplines of Focus and Momentum," and "The Disciplines of Death and Disappearance." There is plenty of food for thought here as Whyte lays out questions that send us into the arms of meaning.

A Quote to Go: "We do not always move forward because of the plans we make or the effort we expend. The conversation itself more often does the true work of transformation."
