George Pratt and Peter Lambrou are licensed clinical psychologists in practice at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. They have come up with a four-step program to help men and women get rid of the "fog of distress" which overtakes them and often results in addictions, sleeplessness, bad habits, conflict, and troubled relationships. After six decades of clinical experience with individuals who feel unloved, guilty, ashamed, fearful, and unsafe, Pratt and Lambrou have released this therapeutic process. It combines body and mind exercises to reconnect with one's natural state of inner happiness.

The Four-Step Code to Joy consists of
1. Identify
2. Clear
3. Repattern
4. Anchor

But before we can change our ways and inch our way toward happiness we must come to terms with "The Seven Self-Limiting Beliefs":

"1. I am not safe.
"2. I am worthless.
"3. I am powerless.
"4. I am not lovable.
"5. I cannot trust anyone.
"6. I am bad.
"7. I am alone"

In contrast to these obstacles to a rich and full life, Pratt and Lambou share five pathways to happiness:

1. Eat consciously.
2. Exercise sanely.
3. Wrap yourself in fractals [patterns that repeat themselves].
4. Build a gratitude list.
5. Make time for renewal.
