We met Claude, a small plumb dog who has a yen for adventures, in Claude in the City. Here he and his best friend Sir Bobblysock head off to the park and suddenly find themselves caught up in the midst of a fast-moving group of runners. They escape to a bed of flowers and take a nap.

Claude is a master of improvisation, and he proves it once again by rescuing a little baby in a runaway buggy. Then the energetic dog and his intrepid buddy are called upon to use their talents to help revitalize an ailing circus troupe.

Alex T. Smith has created a very appealing twosome in Claude and Sir Bobblysock who have a knack for getting themselves into trouble. But instead of plunging further into disaster, they manage to pull off heroic acts by acting definitively in the spur of the moment. Alex T. Smith's illustrations are snappy and clever.
