Geoffrey Duncan is the author of three other worship anthologies that provide a rich lode of devotional material for Christian congregations. Here he has collected prayers for peace. In a time when wars are being waged all over the world, it is an oasis of sanity around which individuals and faith communities can gather for fresh hope and renewal.

In his introduction, Duncan writes that Christians must become activists for peace in as many ways as can be imagined. "For me, to be an activist is to be quietly determined — speaking out, letter writing, joining a peace organization, participating in a peace rally and letting governments know that the voice of the people for peace is more powerful than the dropping of bombs and promoting weapons of war. These are small but effective ways of working for the day when swords will be turned into ploughshares and nations will not go to war."

The prayers here are presented in chapters on Visions of Peace, Circles of Protective Balance, Peace on Earth, Where There Is No Peace, Working For Peace, The Peace That Passes Understanding, and The Prince of Peace. This is a very timely and inspiring collection of prayers for use in worship services, small groups, and private devotions.
