This e-workshop was held on Zoom on Saturday, March 18, from 10 am – 1 pm PT, 1 – 4 pm ET. Registration is now closed.
Rituals are the language of the soul. They are ways we can be more intentional about life. They carry the presence of the sacred into our daily rounds. They often mark doorway moments when we pass from one stage of life to another. They acknowledge that these passages are not just external changes but involve internal transformation.
Spirituality & Practice is happy to welcome Barbara Biziou to our School of Spiritual Life for an interactive workshop where you will learn how to create transformative rituals. The workshop will take place on Zoom on Saturday, March 18, 10 am – 1 pm PT, 1 – 4 pm ET (find the time in your area here). The e-workshop will be recorded and a link made available to those who have registered in advance. (It will not go into our on-demand system for later purchase and viewing, so now's the time to signup!)
Profiled in S&P’s Living Spiritual Teachers Project, Barbara wrote two of our go-to books of rituals, The Joy of Ritual and The Joy of Family Rituals. She teaches ritual making to corporate groups, new parents, retreat center workshop attendees, and interfaith ministers in training at the One Spirit Learning Alliance. For several years she was the resident ritual expert on the Odyssey Network/Hallmark Channel's New Morning program. A longtime ceremony leader, she hosts rituals at key moments of the year and has even done blessing ceremonies for Broadway theater shows.
In this three-hour workshop, Barbara will draw from a range of cross-cultural traditions and spiritual teachings to help us create our own rituals, tailored to the new reality in which we find ourselves, so that we can move forward with energy, inspiration, grounding, and focus. You will receive powerful teachings, insights, tools, techniques, and experiences such as:
- How to create a ritual
- Why rituals are so powerful
- Examples of cross-cultural rituals
- Using the cycles of nature
- Rituals for transitions, celebrations, healing, love, and success
This is a great opportunity to re-animate, re-invigorate and re-imagine your deepest dreams. We are being called together to help make positive conscious changes in our lives and in the world; ritual will help you ground your aspirations.
At the end of the workshop, we will do a group ritual to recognize the beginning of a new season on the Spring Equinox, March 20. For the best experience we recommend that you have these items available for the workshop: candle, glass of water, seeds to eat or cranberries. Optional: crystal, flowers.
