Anticipating the imminent impact of a comet on Earth, a small group have gathered for one last supper. They include two astronomers and a NASA scientist who have been trying to convince the public of the seriousness of this threat, along with family members and a young man, Yule, they have just recently met. Someone suggests that perhaps they should say a prayer or something, but most of them are at a lost for words. But Yule, who grew up in a religious household, says he's got it.
Here is his prayer:
“Dearest Father and Almighty Creator,
we ask for Your grace tonight, despite our pride.
Your forgiveness, despite our doubt.
Most of all Lord, we ask for Your Love
to soothe us through these dark times.
May we face whatever is to come in Your divine will
with courage and open hearts of acceptance.
Amen.”
