Someone Else's America is an unusual film which touches the heart.

Bayo (Miki Manojlovic) is a Montenegran illegal who lives and works at a bar and grill in Brooklyn run by Alonso (Tom Conti), a Spanish emigre. These two down-and-out men forge a friendship as they inhabit the eerie twilight zone between their daily existence in the real America and the vivid memories of life back home.

When the rest of Bayo's family tries to enter the U.S. illegally through Mexico, he is saddled with a loss that puts him in a deep depression. Alonso, on the other hand, concocts a clever and convincing fantasy which enables his blind mother to visit her beloved rural village in Spain one last time.

While these two middle-aged men struggle to survive, Bayo's oldest son uses his energy and ingenuity to get a green card and a new lease on life for the rest of the family. The screenplay by Gordan Mihic delves into the bittersweet dreams and difficulties of immigrants and the alliances they forge in order to keep their souls alive.
