Living in Oblivion offers a wacky behind-the-scenes look at the challenges of making a low-budget independent movie. Mixing fantasy and reality sequences, writer and director Tom DiCillo captures and conveys the hopes and dreams of the cast and crew.

Steve Buscemi is hilarious as the high-strung director who has to deal with a confused leading lady (Catherine Keener), a controlling Hollywood star (James Le Gros), a narcissistic cinematographer (Dermot Mulroney), and an ambitious assistant director (Danielle Von Zerneck).

For all of these dreamers and schemers, creativity is a burden; they consistently live with expectations that shoot far beyond reality. Living in Oblivion is very funny.
