The incarnation of God in Christ Jesus further claims that the glory of God is revealed in the least, the most despised, the most oppressed of God's creatures. Surely, in our time, the natural world is joined in its oppression with Christ: it too is being crucified. Just as in the face of a suffering child, woman, or man, Christians see the face of Christ, so also there is a trace of that face in a clear-cut forest, an inner-city landfill, or a polluted river.
