One of the terms the Koran uses for general sinfulness is dalal, aimless wandering, as opposed to the purposeful path of pilgrimage through life. As well as undertaking a pilgrimage which will subconsciously affect the rest of our lives, we can choose consciously to see the whole of our lives as a sacred journey.
