It [the Church's presentation of Mary as passive, silent, asexual and as having the single role of motherhood] is a sad affair for the history of the Church. It drains us of women in ministry. It denies us the voice of women in the interpretation of the voice of a God in Scripture that a woman bore for us. It robs us of the place of women in human history now.
