From the mundane to the vital, each [computer] file is a discrete record of our thoughts and preoccupations, a mark of who we are and how we spend our time. The vast majority of files we view as banal, but every one we work on contains a little piece of our soul. Like the fingerpaintings of our childhood stored in the attic, these files tie us to a specific moment in time. They may be fascinating or wholly uninteresting. Either way, they are our creations.
