From the middle of the nineteenth century a galaxy of Hindu holy people have spoken movingly about Jesus. For Ramakrishna, Jesus was the jivanmukti; that is to say, the one who has attained perfect liberation in this life. For Rabindranath Tagore, Jesus was the Son of Man seeking the poor of the earth. For Mahatma Gandhi, Jesus was the supreme satyagrahi, that is, the one who loves truth and fights for truth. For Sarvepalli Radkakrishna, Jesus was a mystic who believed in the inner light. It can safely be said that in the eyes of Hindus, Jesus was a mystic and a saint.
