Jesus' mediation of God's transformative love reminds us that we are always "more" than our illness or health. How sad it is, when a young woman introduces herself to a support group with words, "I am a stage two cancer patient." While she has cancer, she is not her cancer. In her complexity and beauty, she is much more than her cancer cells: she is a mother, daughter, wife, artist, and friend. Indeed, her recognition of the wholeness of her multidimensional life may be the first step toward the spiritual healing that may lead to physical recovery.
