Like capital punishment and the slaughter of people in war, the slaughter of animals is, to me, a morally shameful economic enterprise upon which most of humankind has learned to depend, directly or indirectly. For personal nutrition as well as for larger social reasons I am trying to incorporate an increasingly vegan way of eating into my life, which is no easy thing.
