In the four years Sharon survived after the initial diagnosis, she claimed the holiness of each moment. Although she did not regularly attend services at the temple, she reclaimed her Jewish spiritual heritage, especially the wisdom of the Psalms and the mysticism of the Kabbalah. She arose each morning with the psalmist's praise, "this is the day that God has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it" (Ps. 118:24).
