The world as God's body accepts and even stresses God's willingness to suffer. McFague goes so far as to state that this metaphor can "remythologize" the inclusive and suffering love of Jesus of Nazareth on the cross. She asserts that in the past human beings killed their God in the body of a man, and that now we have the power again to kill our God in the body of the world.
