In contrast to those who limit revelation to a single channel or stream of truth, the image of the world as the body of Christ proclaims that all creatures experience and can serve as vehicles of divine revelation. There is a democracy of revelation, a global priesthood of believers that includes not only monks, priests, and gurus but common persons, agnostics, and even animals, birds, and trees. In the language of the new age, every person and, indeed, every living being is capable of becoming a channel of the divine, because God speaks from the inside as well as the outside of each being.
