I wonder how many of us — teachers, doctors, parents, farmers, nurses, day-care workers, waiters — do the work of the Christ in this world and do not know it. Why is it that we in the church have so often failed to see, and share with each other, the ways in which one can see the gifts of healing, knowledge, hospitality, mercy, service, and the rest at work in our lives and in the lives of those around us?
