Mary Faulkner is a writer, therapist, teacher, and the former executive director of Recovery Magazine. With this kit combining a meditation handbook and 52 flash cards, she has created a very helpful and healing resource that draws upon the wisdom of Twelve-Step Recovery programs. The aim here is to inspire, encourage, and entertain those with addictions. An example is the advice given in conjunction with the card "Easy Does It!" Faulkner writes in her meditation:

"A dairy farmer milks the cows in the morning and turns them out to pasture. Every evening at the same time they make their way back to the barn to get milked again. Everything around the dairy barn happens on time, 'cow time,' and cows don't wear watches."

The moral is clear: we should slow down and remember that "easy does it" is a great motto for daily life.

Here are the slogans on other flash cards:
• Say YES! to Life
• We Must Let Go Absolutely
• Bless Everyone and Everything
• Expect Great Things from God!
• We Must Accept Life on Life's Term
• Some Days Are Definitely Better Than Others

Faulkner covers many topics in her meditations including the meaning of the Serenity Prayer which she calls "the National Anthem for Recovery," ways to deal with "white knuckle days," creating play days for yourself, making a "God Box" in which to place your worries, ignoring self-centeredness impulses, and viewing feelings as weather fronts that pass through your area.
