Father Joseph A. Girzone retired from the active Catholic priesthood in 1981 after suffering a heart attack. He wrote and published two religious volumes followed by Joshua, a tale about Jesus in the modern world. It sold 1.5 million copies and spawned a series of sequels.

In Never Alone: A Personal Way to God Father Joseph charts his spiritual journey. He believes that we are partners with God in the composition of our destiny. Or, as he notes, "He turned my life into a great adventure at a time when I thought it was about to come to an end."

Girzone writes about his loneliness as a child. He describes his difficult work as a priest in the Bronx teaching troubled kids and in a Pennsylvania mining town split apart by labor disputes. It is only now that he realizes how this was all part of God's plan for him. The author states: "The important lesson is that each of us is unique and special and we must allow God the freedom to work in our souls in whatever way He pleases, knowing that He is an accomplished Master and will produce in us a masterpiece."

Girzone challenges readers to closely examine Jesus's spirituality and the ways in which he found intimacy with God, freedom, respect for all people, and tranquility in the midst of trouble. Never Alone will speak to all those who are seeking a spiritual path with heart.
