Eckhart Tolle is emerging among the most original and inspiring spiritual teachers of our time. He travels and teaches through the world to diverse audiences. He is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition and excludes none. His profound yet simple and practical teachings have helped thousands of people find inner peace and greater fulfillment in their lives.
Tolle was born in Germany and educated at the Universities of London and Cambridge. When he was 29, a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. The next few years were devoted to understanding, integrating, and deepening that transformation. Later, he began to work in London with individuals and small groups as a counselor and spiritual teacher. Since 1995 he has lived in Vancouver, Canada.
At the core of his teachings lies the transformation of consciousness, a spiritual awakening that he sees as the next step in human evolution. An essential aspect of this awakening consists in transcending our ego-based state of consciousness. He believes this is a prerequisite not only for personal happiness but also for the ending of violent conflict endemic on our planet.
Tolle's books have sold in the millions and have been translated into 33 languages. He has also embraced new technologies, offering his teachings in audios, podcasts, webinars, and online intensives. In 2008, his A New Earth was a selection of the Oprah Book Club and Tolle and Oprah did 10 webcasts as part of an extensive learning experience around the book; participants logged in from around the world.
