In my judgment, this was also most likely the experience of Jesus himself: he sometimes experienced the Spirit "around" or "in" or "on" him. I do not mean that he would have spoken of it this way; he may or may not have. But I do mean that the community's estimate of him as anointed by the Spirit reflects not simply their own experience but also his. My basis for saying so is my claim that he was a Jewish mystic, a religious ecstatic, a "Spirit person."
