My own tradition is a Christian one, but a running meditation can exist as an authentic practice of prayer within the framework of any of the major world religions — Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism or Hinduism. It is not a substitute for any of the practices of faith that have withstood the text of time. Trust in the wisdom of the ancient traditions, but don't be afraid to try a contemporary expression of an ancient practice.
