Sorrow is not the only doorway into the world of soul, but it is one that opens for everyone at some time in life. Other familiar ways of accessing the world of soul include dreams, meditation, a variety of aesthetic experiences, creativity, falling in love, a close brush with death or any other transpersonal experience that shocks us out of complacency and denial. I now see dissatisfaction with the world of ego as divine discontent which, like the hound of heaven, will never let us rest.
