• Work against your need to give the impression that you know it all. Encourage everyone to use the phrase "You may be right" often — make it your "slogan" — and see how that changes the atmosphere in your household or group.
  • Play a game with your family and friends. Make up the faculty roster for the University of Life. Professors may be living or dead.
  • In primal religions, ancestors and the elderly are treated with respect since they are repositories of wisdom for the tribe. Find more ways to tap into the spiritual wisdom of elders in your community. Involve young people in an oral history project where they tape elders talking about what they have learned in life. Keep the tapes at a local library or community center. Add a collection of stories, videos, and songs in which grandparents and elders are depicted as heroes.
