Chikudo Lewis Richmond is an ordained disciple of Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki, and a lineage holder in that tradition. Beginning in 1967 he lived and trained at Tassajara Zen Monastery, San Francisco Zen Center, and Green Gulch Zen Temple, where he was its Head of Practice from 1977-1983.

Today, Richmond writes books on spiritual practice and Buddhism as well as the process of aging. He is a main teacher at the Vimala Sangha, a Buddhist group in the San Francisco Bay area, and frequent article contributor to the Huffington Post on Buddhism and spirituality.
